Pharaoh

Pharaoh was the ruler of Egypt whose disturbing dreams created an unexpected path out of prison for Joseph. He dreamed of fat cows consumed by bony ones, a warning no one around him could explain. Joseph interpreted the visions as seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. Recognizing the wisdom in this answer, Pharaoh elevated the forgotten prisoner to second-in-command over Egypt and placed him in charge of preparing for the crisis. That decision allowed grain to be stored before the famine arrived. It also brought Joseph's hungry brothers to Egypt and set the stage for their reconciliation. Though Pharaoh occupies only one part of Joseph's story, his willingness to heed a difficult warning helped preserve countless lives.
