Otto

Otto is a pushy little doll offered to Will as a replacement god by traveling showman Randolph Fox. At first, Otto seems useful. He feeds Will's ambition, helps him rise as a piano prodigy, and promises the freedom to live without unwanted rules. Gradually, however, the doll demands more control. Otto separates Will from his parents, sulks whenever he is challenged, and begins to look more and more like Will himself. When Will demands his life back, Otto grows to full size, wears Will's face, and steals his voice. Otto represents selfish desire turned into a master. What appears to serve Will finally consumes his identity, showing why a god made in someone's own image cannot bring freedom.
