Ohnmar

Ohnmar was a dangerous prisoner in Burma's Sanwing labor camp. He provoked guards, mocked Mr. Thuza's Christian faith, and later led a violent riot that left a guard dead. Yet he also noticed Thuza's steady kindness under false accusations and stopped other prisoners from stealing from him. Ohnmar even brought him a blanket, a small mercy Thuza remembered when choosing to protect him. After the riot, Thuza falsely accepted responsibility so the prisoners would not be executed one by one. Ohnmar remained silent while the innocent man faced the firing squad. His mixture of cruelty, perception, and reluctant respect shows that witnessing sacrificial love can reach a hardened person even before courage grows strong enough to answer it.
