Nicky Rogers

Nicky Rogers is a young boy adjusting to the arrival of his baby sister, Shannon. He has been waiting for boots his father promised, but the new baby receives all the attention instead. Jealous, Nicky climbs into Shannon's crib, takes back his old pacifier, and hides with the family dog. He decides that if Shannon is the new baby, he must be the old one. A broken toy lamb playing "Jesus Loves Me" and a quiet conversation with his father begin changing his view. Joe explains that a parent's heart has room for two children and apologizes for the delayed boots. When handmade boots arrive from Brazil, Nicky receives both the gift he wanted and reassurance that his place in the family remains secure.
