Nagle

Lieutenant Nagle is an angel sent to watch over Jimmy Barclay during a life-threatening coma. He appears as Jimmy's calm companion through a series of dangerous adventures involving a bomber, a spy chase, a sailing ship, and a star cruiser. Each setting changes, but Nagle remains steady while an enemy named Grim continues pursuing them. He finally explains that Grim represents death and that Jimmy was badly injured in the woods. Nagle cannot remove every danger or answer every question, but he assures Jimmy that his life is still held by God and that more lies ahead for him. Protective, patient, and quietly authoritative, Nagle guides Jimmy toward the door that leads home and back to consciousness.
