Naaman

Naaman was a proud enemy commander afflicted with leprosy. He sought healing but nearly rejected the answer because it seemed too simple and undignified. The prophet's instruction was to wash seven times in the muddy Jordan River. Insulted, Naaman prepared to leave rather than obey. His servants persuaded him to set pride aside and try what he had been told. When he finally entered the river and completed the seven washings, he emerged completely healed. Naaman's experience shows that obedience is not mindless submission. It can be a choice to trust wise instruction when personal expectations demand something grander. His restored health came only after he accepted that humility, not status or impressive effort, was the step standing between him and the help he needed.
