Michael Horden

Michael Horden manages Odyssey Cable, the town's new public-access television station. He interviews Connie Kendall and Nigel Odian for a position writing children's programs. Nigel offers a cartoon that treats adults as foolish obstacles, while Connie argues that young viewers need stories respecting the roles of parents and teachers. Her demonstration, The Little Train That Couldn't, impresses Horden with its warning about rejecting one's created purpose. He hires her and immediately recognizes that the station needs more writers. Connie responds by bringing in Wooton, Eugene, Nelson, and their ideas for Captain Absolutely and Science by Design. Curious about Whit's End, Horden invites Whit for coffee to learn how its programs serve children so effectively.
