Meg Stevens

Meg Stevens is a curious ten year old whose constant questions get her banished from her mother's beauty parlor after school. Whit welcomes her to Whit's End and assures her that sincere questions are never stupid. Meg's eagerness to help first causes an accident with Chris Gottlieb's wheelchair, leaving the sharp tongued librarian angry. She returns with apple pie, a research list, and the courage to ask what everyone else avoids. Between questions about fjords and a supposedly broken compass, Meg draws Chris into laughter and friendship. Open, persistent, and unafraid of awkward subjects, she sees the person behind his defensive manner. Her curiosity becomes valuable when it is joined with humility, apology, and genuine interest in another human being.
