Mark Reed

Mark Reed is a smooth con man who comes to Odyssey posing as a photographer for the church directory. His appointments give him a schedule of when families will be away, allowing accomplices to rob their homes. Rodney Rathbone overhears part of the plan and recognizes the danger, but his long history of lying makes almost everyone dismiss the warning. Reed counts on that disbelief while presenting himself as friendly and respectable. Whit quietly alerts police, who arrange a trap at the Jacobs house and arrest Reed at the church. The scheme is exposed because Rodney finally tells the truth and someone investigates it carefully. Reed's polished disguise shows why honesty and reputation matter when a warning sounds unlikely.
