Mark Forbes
Mark Forbes is Emily Forbes's older brother and a boy who enjoys teasing her. Before their dentist appointments, he invents a frightening secret about Dr. Graves pulling all of Emily's teeth with enormous pliers and a needle meant for horses. Mark makes her promise not to tell their parents, leaving her terrified for an entire day. When Dr. Graves learns the truth, he arranges a harmless reversal. Mark is told that Emily needs his blood and that the horse needle is on its way. The terrifying instrument proves to be a water squirter, and Emily proudly reveals the trick. Mark recognizes the fear he caused, apologizes to his sister, and accepts her immediate forgiveness.
