Kwan

Kwan is Ji-ho Sung-Hoon's closest friend in a country where Christianity is forbidden and citizens are taught to fear unseen enemies. During a midnight raid, Ji-ho discovers Kwan among believers lined up against a wall. Kwan calmly admits that he is a Christian and refuses to protect himself with a lie. He is sent to a brutal prison camp, where Ji-ho later volunteers as a guard in hopes of finding him. The friends exchange brief whispers in the courtyard, allowing Kwan to teach Ji-ho about his faith. Even when another guard ends those meetings, Kwan risks trusting his friend with a secret gathering place and password. His courage forces Ji-ho to confront the human cost of obedience to the regime.
