Kwame

Kwame is a young boy in an isolated Central African village that believes itself trapped by a curse. He dreams of escaping by airplane but initially loses confidence in Eugene Meltsner when the new radio transmitter fails. While most villagers avoid the outsiders, Kwame quietly returns. Eugene folds a paper airplane from a useless instruction manual, and the small gift restores the boy's happiness. Kwame shares the planes with his friends, moving his mother Aman to trust Eugene's gentle heart. She then leads Eugene to the preserved hut of Morati, revealing a connection to his missing father. Curious and hopeful, Kwame gives Eugene his first renewed friendship in the village. His delight in a simple toy opens the door to a discovery no working transmitter could have provided.
