Mr. King
Mr. King owns and operates King's Appliance Cave and formerly owned King's Bookstore, where he continues working as a clerk. At the bookstore, he recognizes Jessie Morales as a regular visitor who browses teen magazines after skipping Sunday school for soccer. Private investigator Harlow Doyle later gathers him with other adults while searching for whoever "stole" Jessie's faith. Harlow accuses Mr. King of sharing responsibility because he pays too little attention to what his magazine racks offer young readers. The charge is only one part of a much larger lesson about personal choices and spiritual habits. Mr. King also appears as Bart Rathbone's business rival during Christmas, when a living nativity outside City Hall draws shoppers toward his appliance store and leaves the Electric Palace nearly empty.
