Kim Sung-Hoon
Colonel Kim Sung-Hoon is Ji-ho and Ara's father and a high ranking military officer in a closed country ruled by fear and propaganda. After his wife's death, he raises his children within a system that demands complete loyalty to the state. Kim leads midnight raids against secret Christians, calls them enemies, and teaches Ji-ho that ideas from beyond the border are dangerous brainwashing. He promotes his son into the raid team and expects unquestioning obedience. Yet Kim's harsh certainty hides a painful conflict between national duty and love for his family. When Ji-ho's faith and secret resistance are exposed, the colonel's response reveals that his devotion to the regime is not absolute. Proud, commanding, and afraid of doubt, Kim resists truths that could overturn his whole identity.
