Jeduthun

Jeduthun was a corrupt synagogue leader in Bethany who worked with Rabbi Ishod against Jesus and Lazarus. He warned Lazarus that friendship with Jesus could cost him his place in the synagogue, using religious authority to pressure rather than protect. After Jesus raised Lazarus from death, Jeduthun continued serving leaders who planned to silence them both. He questioned Lazarus, tried to learn where Jesus could be found, and offered Lucy Cunningham-Schultz money for information. When she refused, Jeduthun took interest in the name of Judas, recognizing another possible path to betrayal. Calculating and self important, he feared losing influence more than he desired truth. His conduct shows how spiritual office becomes dangerous when power replaces faithfulness.
