Imam Abdullah

Imam Abdullah is a Muslim religious leader in a Middle Eastern community who becomes involved after Pastor Saeed Asam is kidnapped for teaching a boy about Jesus. When Whit visits the mosque, Abdullah refuses to confirm any knowledge of the crime and says he must protect children from radical ideas. Yet when he meets the captive pastor, he first orders that Saeed receive water. A repeated vision then overturns his certainty: in a burning wilderness, a man in white identifies himself as Jesus and welcomes him like a child. Abdullah releases Saeed, sends a message to kidnapper Ali Farah, and asks to read Jesus' words. Serious and authoritative, the imam moves from guarding his community against Christian influence to seeking the Gospel for himself.
