Ichabod Crane

Ichabod "Icky" Crane is the lanky new schoolmaster in Sleepy Hollow, where he uses other people's superstitions for his own advantage. He trades spooky tales for tea and pastries while plotting to marry Kat Van Tassel and gain her father Balty's prosperous farm. Kat wants nothing to do with him, but Icky treats her wishes as an obstacle. He outmaneuvers his rival Bones, has the young man banished, and pressures Balty toward announcing a wedding. Confident that nothing can stop him, Ichabod boasts that only the Headless Horseman could interfere. A disguised Bones supplies exactly that terror and chases Icky from town. Clever but selfish, Ichabod seeks security through manipulation and mistakes fear for genuine respect.
