Horace

Horace is the head of a traveling clown troupe performing at an Odyssey carnival. When Connie infiltrates the group in costume, he mistakes her for a replacement performer and expects her to rehearse being fired from a cannon over a trapeze. Horace carefully guards the troupe's professional secrets, including the trick behind fitting seventy-three clowns into one car. He also faces a more personal betrayal when clown Elise admits writing a tell-all book to pay for her daughter's medical education. Rather than cast her out, Horace understands her desperation, forgives her, and welcomes her back. After Connie confesses her own deception, he insists that the clowns' private lives remain confidential, protecting people from becoming material for an exciting story.
