Greg Kelley

Greg Kelley is a small-time Chicago thief who steals a laptop from a Department of Defense courier's car. He intends to take a car radio and grabs the computer on impulse, unaware that it contains government secrets. Panicked by the attention, Greg tries to leave town and crosses paths with Whit and Connie in an airport shuttle. A bag switch leaves him with Whit's ordinary laptop while the stolen machine travels to the Excelsior Hotel. Greg then runs to his employer, Dr. Regis Blackgaard, and learns that the theft has disrupted a much larger scheme. Nervous, impulsive, and far out of his depth, Greg turns a petty crime into a national-security crisis. His mistake brings Whit back into Blackgaard's plans and places everyone who handled the computer in danger.
