Mrs. Fishbine

Mrs. Fishbine is Boswell's owner and the woman who gives Robyn Jacobs her first babysitting job. The assignment sounds simple until the enormous cat breaks a glass ballerina, scatters food, escapes into a furniture truck, and carries Robyn and Jessie all the way to Connellsville. The girls struggle home, clean the house, replace the figurine, and try to erase every sign of disaster before Mrs. Fishbine returns. Boswell immediately knocks the new ballerina from the mantel. Instead of becoming angry, Fishbine laughs and explains that her cat breaks them often, so she buys the decorations by the dozen. Her relaxed response reveals that the catastrophe Robyn feared was never the measure of whether she could be trusted.
