Fanny Crosby

Fanny Crosby was a blind American poet and hymn writer known as the Queen of Hymns. Blind since she was six weeks old, she wrote more than eight thousand songs of Christian faith, hope, and assurance. When young reporter Jenny Roberts visited her in Connecticut, the two shared the experience of living without sight. Fanny did not describe herself only through loss. She called them fortunate because the first face she expected to see would be the face of her Savior. Her confidence gave Jenny a model of joy rooted in faith rather than physical circumstances. Prolific, warm, and hopeful, Fanny turned a lifetime of words into hymns that allowed generations of worshipers to sing about trust in God.
