Ezra is a young beggar in ancient Jerusalem who has been blind since birth. He keeps pursuing rumors of healers despite the disappointment each false hope brings to him and his mother, Lydia. When he hears that Jesus is in the city, Ezra refuses to let Lydia's fear stop him. Jesus places mud on his eyes and sends him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. There Ezra sees for the first time, discovering birds, water, and his mother's smile. His healing also opens Lydia's heart to sit at Jesus' feet. When Olivia wonders whether one miracle could be worth twenty years of darkness, Ezra answers with complete certainty because the experience has transformed more than his eyesight.
