Edmond Dantes

Edmond Dantes is a humble sandwich maker in B-TV's comic version of The Count of Monte Cristo. Chosen as the king's royal sandwich maker, he is framed for treason by jealous falafel seller Ferdinand and exiled to a prison on a volcanic island. An eruption carries Edmond away on a piece of French toast, and he invents the Monte Cristo sandwich while escaping. Disguised as a wealthy count, he ruins Ferdinand and prepares to finish his revenge in a duel. Mercedes arrives before the final blow and begs him to forgive. Edmond recognizes how vengeance has twisted him, releases his enemy, and discovers that freedom comes not from successful retaliation but from letting go of the wrong.
