Dee Grant is a forceful comics executive connected with Maximized Comics and the mysterious Perilous Pen. After someone searches Wooton Bassett's house and private details from his newest comic leak online, Dee quickly offers corporate protection. Her help carries a price: Wooton must sign immediately and reshape the loving Sleuth Family Robinson into relatives who cannot stand one another. Dee treats conflict as more marketable than wholesome role models and pressures Wooton to compromise his convictions. She also reveals that the comics company, a newspaper, a television crew, and a public festival all belong to the powerful Mr. Schwartz.
