Dan Daventry

Dan Daventry is a county health and safety inspector whose arrival in Odyssey causes an enormous misunderstanding. Believing he judges the Best Small Town in America contest, Bart Rathbone and other residents shower him with favors and artificial charm. Dan accepts free services and a private play while the town scrambles to impress him. His true job soon brings consequences: unsafe renovations, blocked fire exits, and other violations catch his attention. Even after learning he cannot vote for Odyssey, residents choose to welcome him sincerely. Dan later discovers crumbling ground beneath Whit's End and condemns the beloved shop as unsafe. Observant and professional, he exposes the difference between performing goodness for an evaluator and treating every visitor well because it is right.
