Dan Bryant

Dan Bryant is the director of Odyssey's children's orchestra, the ensemble that draws young musicians from around town and performs at events such as the annual children's Christmas concert. He is an ear-first judge of talent, willing to assign parts on merit rather than seniority. That instinct once put him at the centre of a small storm. When Whit's granddaughter Jenny arrived for the holidays with a violin she had taught herself to play, Bryant heard her and handed her the concert solo. Sandra Underwood had waited all year for that part, and her mother demanded a special tryout, which Bryant held. Through his orchestra, he connects with many of Odyssey's children and their families.
