Coyote

Coyote, usually called Kai, is a Los Angeles talent scout and Jan Kendall's fiancé. Friendly and attentive, he urges Jan to bring Jules home so the three of them can become a family. After hearing Jules sing, Kai offers to represent her and quickly places her in a professional recording studio. He pushes a fast-moving strategy built around producers, publicists, a manufactured image, and whatever music seems most marketable. When Jules questions the changes, he tells her that success requires going hard or going home. Kai praises her talent, but his ambition leaves little room for the person behind the performance. His plans show how easily encouragement can become control when fame and money take priority over honesty.
