Cindy Hanson
Cindy Hanson is Leslie's closest childhood friend, though growing up begins pulling the girls in different directions. After spending much of a summer with a new friend named Krista, Cindy declines Leslie's invitation and asks why she cannot have other friends. Their argument ends when Leslie demands exclusive loyalty and declares the friendship over. A few days later, Cindy reaches out and suggests they spend time together again. Leslie already has homework plans with Ann but invites Cindy to join them, turning an old pair into a group of three. Cindy's changing interests force Leslie to release an impossible promise that they will always remain exactly the same. Their repaired friendship shows that closeness can survive growth when friends make room for new people instead of treating affection as something only one person may possess.
