Charles VanHorn

Charles VanHorn is a new student at Odyssey Middle School with an enthusiastic love of dinosaurs. Jared mistakes his dinosaur poem for clever political satire and recruits him to challenge the usual student-council candidates. Charles talks sincerely about Tyrannosaurus rex and museums while classmates hear hidden promises of reform, turning an innocent misunderstanding into a popular campaign. When Jared learns that Charles attends the school's special-education class, he wrongly begins doubting the candidate he promoted. Charles refuses to be ashamed or pushed aside. He believes God made him special and that he can contribute ideas no one else has considered. By telling the whole school the truth about himself, Charles demonstrates honesty, confidence, and genuine leadership.
