Brad

Brad is an Odyssey boy who wants to celebrate Halloween but also takes his church's concerns about the holiday seriously. When he and Leonard ask Whit whether Halloween is satanic, Whit directs them to research its history rather than handing them an answer. Brad learns that Hallow's Eve once came before a celebration of saints and suggests a different kind of party at Whit's End. Children can dress as Bible characters, play games, sing, and celebrate what is good. Despite criticism from adults who want the event canceled, Brad helps turn the idea into a joyful new tradition. Curious and constructive, he responds to a troubling question by studying carefully and creating something better rather than merely complaining.
