Boaz

Boaz was a wealthy and honorable landowner in Bethlehem and a relative of Naomi's late husband. When Ruth came to glean fallen barley in his fields, he learned of her loyalty to Naomi and treated the foreign widow with unusual generosity. He ordered his workers to protect her, leave extra grain, and welcome her at their table. Boaz respected both compassion and Israel's laws concerning family land. When Ruth asked him to act as a kinsman-redeemer, he followed the proper process rather than taking advantage of her vulnerability. He secured Naomi's family property and became Ruth's husband. Kind, responsible, and quietly joyful, Boaz used his position to provide safety, dignity, and a future for two women without power.
