Annie McNeil

Annie McNeil is an Odyssey girl whose mountain of Christmas presents leaves her bored only one day after the holiday. A trip with Whit to Foster Creek introduces her to families who have far less and to Tommy, a boy who dares her into a dangerous alley. There Annie meets Mrs. Rossini, a lonely woman whose faith and contentment puzzle her. Annie also faces the Locos, a street gang whose attack damages Mrs. Rossini's home. Required to help repair the broken windows, Annie accepts the work without complaint. The experience begins changing how she sees happiness and generosity. Instead of rushing back to her toys, she looks forward to returning with cat food for Mrs. Rossini's pets.
