Reverend Andrew Jamison

Reverend Andrew Jamison was the pastor of Odyssey's first church, whose land and hidden passages later became part of Whit's End. During the era of the Underground Railroad, he sheltered people escaping slavery and helped guide them toward freedom. Andrew gave refuge to the ill Caroline Ross and her husband Henry, then hid their son William when a slave catcher arrived with the sheriff. Arrest and threats did not make him betray the family. When Nathan set fire to the rectory, Andrew escaped the flames and helped Henry pull William from a smoke filled tunnel. Courageous and compassionate, Reverend Jamison risked his home and freedom because he believed protecting people in danger mattered more than obeying unjust demands.
